Tomorrow is Saturday June 27th and it’s time for another Sydney BarCamp to be held at the Australian Technology Park in Redfern, Sydney.
So what’s a BarCamp?
“BarCamp is an intense community event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees,” It’s community members say.
“Anyone with something to contribute or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to participate.”
Usual discussions at the event:
The usual discussions at the event include:
- Comparing startups in San Fransisco to Australia and whether startups should accept funding;
- Coding and hacking;
- The latest internet technology; and
- The most randomness thing you won’t even think will be talked about.
Almost 200 people have registered for the latest Sydney BarCamp, with previous ones seeing more than 100 people show up; sponsors even put in some money for food and drink.
“There’s something for everyone,” said un-organiser Jean-Jacques Halans at the last one.
“The things we talk about here touch on everyone’s life; everyone uses the internet”

BARCAMP Sydney 4 is on this Saturday of which Tech Wired Australia will be attending and bringing you the latest and greatest information as-it-happens!
I hear you asking:“What should I expect?”
Well, what would you like to hear about?

FOLLOWING Sydney this month another BarCamp has been locked in to place, this time for the Gold Coast, scheduled for the 29th of November.
As described in the last Bar Camp article for Sydney, BarCamp is all about getting a bunch of people who like to be social on the web and interact with others.

BARCAMP Sydney 4 was announced this week with over 50+ people already putting their names down to attend.
It has been scheduled for the 15th of November of which just so happens to coincide perfectly with the 100th episode of the Tech Wired Australia Podcast.
You may have noticed that this weeks episode of Tech Wired Australia has been delayed.
The reason behind this was, I (Ben) went to BarCamp Gold Coast!
First of all let me just say that it was great.
I met a lot of people with the same ‘get it’ understanding for technology, which is what I usually find @ all these events.
The turn out was great also, 31 are in the group shot (including camera man) but there were more throughout the day!
Below is a picture of the turn out snapped by: djp photohraphy
This weeks Tech Wired Australia podcast will be released within the next 24 hours.
Today I (Ben) will be taking the train down to Griffith University to experience my seccond BarCamp.
I would still love to do Tech Wired Australia, though I need it recorded somewhere, so I think I might remote desktop to my home start a conference call to myself and Brent and let my home PC record. *sets up mixer before I forget*.
I’ll be talking about social media and IT in schools, ’cause I can.
I’m going to stream live content if you want it @ http://live.techwiredau.com starting after 11am AEST Saturday July 5th and record content as well.
Looking forward to it, I haven’t slept and I leave for the train in less than 3 or hours =).
