Because sure, Tech 2U looks like a highly reputable company to spend the governments $30k on.
Just look at that obviously painstakingly designed marketing ‘neon banner’ that is their website.
Its as simple as this.. soon as the government tries to filter any ‘high volume’ website.. they’re going to have problems with their proposed ‘solutions’ falling over.
The $287,000 is only the tip of the iceberg – we don’t know how much time and money the “trial” is costing ACMA or DBCDE, nor do we know how much Enex are being paid to administer the “trial”. The whole thing is a monumental waste of taxpayer’s money, and Senator Conroy should have been fired long ago.
Let’s also not forget that Senator Conroy lambasted other ISPs for allegedly trying to get DBCDE to pay for equipment for them – the $287,000 is to ISPs that Conroy claimed on March 12th could trial the filtering doe “zero dollar costs”. (see “Greedy ISPs kept from filtering trial” by Suzanne Tindal, ZDNet, 16th March).
Webshield are a (so-called) non-profit ISP, whose entire reason for being is that they ONLY sell censored internet – both blacklist-based and dynamic. So what possible reason could they have for needing MORE money to install MORE hardware just to test another blacklist??

doe=for in the previous post
The trial is going to cost more than $1 million due to the $887,000 contract Enex has with the government for the trial.

Is Conroy a Christadelphian??
@Eddie That trial was for the following:
“Testing services for submitted PC Filters and ISP Filtered Services”
It wasn’t just for ISP filtering services.
