I purchased these speakers a few months ago to replace my 5.1 system.

They’re absolutely incredible. The sound is very crisp and clear, beautiful bass as well…
Far better than my Altec Lansing 5.1 system.

Thanks for the great review of the AudioEngine A2. I bought my A2′s from here in the UK and love them!

Considering their miniature size they sound amazing. I have them hooked upto my Mac and use them to play all the music stored on the hard drive (my PC is becoming the HiFi!!).

Michael Stewart: It’s hard to recommend speakers to other people without knowing their listening habits. I am very much not a fan of Logitech speakers personally. I don’t find their sound signature to be very pleasing at all when listening to music. They have a certain sound that’s very easy to pick and is distinctly Logitech; a lot of hissy high end and a lot of bass. They’re decent for movies and games though, mostly because of the bass rumble, if you like that sort of thing.

If it’s a 2.1 system you’re after, and the A2′s are out of your price range, I would recommend some speakers from Altec-Lansing’s range instead. They’re one of the few “computer speaker” manufacturers whose sound I actually enjoy for listening to music. Their only problem is that they’re constantly changing their product lineup. The ones I have are no longer available to buy. The FX6021′s are supposed to be very good if you can find them, but are also no longer available on the website. I’ve no idea what their ‘replacement’ model is, though some stores will probably still stock the 6021′s.

Nice Review. My cheap computer speakers have recently started playing up and I am looking for something higher quality although $350 may be a little out of my price range I will probably end up getting a logitech 2.1 system like the X-230 http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/208&cl=au,en if anyone has used these speakers or any logitech ones I would love it if you shared you thoughts.
