Is your pet lonely or seeking some tender loving care? If you answered yes, a team of 7 at Startup Camp Sydney this weekend are trying to help you out by creating and launching My Pet Needs Love.

The Problem:

In the case of My Pet Needs Love it was not so much about a problem that needed to be fixed, but a gap that the developers saw needed to be fulfilled.

One of the team observed his fathers dog always meeting up down the road with another lonely dog. Now this is only one way of meeting other dogs, but what if their was an online community where owners cold find matches for their pets?

The Solution:

A website dedicated to bringing pets together for fun and play.

A spokesman for the team said in a live presentation on Ustream:

“Any owner can join up to the social network and login; they’ve got full access to see all the other pets in the network,”

“You can even access Google maps to see the location of different pets in your area,”

“Once connected, you can link up to those pets and talk to their owner to work out a way to meet.”

The website is said to fulfill the needs of both pets and their owners by simplifying the process of finding new friends for your pets.

Monetization:

In terms of monitisation, I think the team have come up with a fairly traditional idea, which is great.

“Owners are concerned about their pets well being, we’d be looking at selling necklaces, different foods e.t.c”

I could also see an oportunity for traditional advertising options such as banner advertisements.
