Would You Like WiFi With That? [Updated]

1

MC DONALDS franchises in Australia look as though they’re going to be following the UK by offering free WiFi to patrons.

Whirlpool forum member someguy11 points out:

“I Work at McDonald’s and we just received flyers and posters for free wifi there. The flyers were shrink-wrapped, and since i found them in the office i didn’t want to open them, but I’m assuming the flyers have a code which you enter into a landing page.”

Website http://www.freewifi.com.au has the following placeholder graphic for a Mc Donalds store in Australia:

Currently Telstra runs all WiFi hot spots within Mc Donald’s Australian stores, and offers free Internet access for those with Telstra iPhones plans.

UPDATE:

The rumours are true:

“McDonald’s Australia has partnered with Telstra, the country’s leading telecommunications carrier to offer the free service over Telstra’s Next IP™ network. The staged roll out is expected to be completed by March 2009.”
