Keeping your Social Networks in Sync

atomkeep — your profile everywhere

If you’re on the internet, you’re probably part of a social network, or three. Heck, I could list ten networks I use regularly straight off the top of my head. They’re everywhere, from MySpace, Facebook, Bebo through to last.fm, Flickr and Twitter (just to name a few). They all have an ‘About Me’ or ‘Bio’ section, and a place for an avatar, or profile picture if you want. This is all well and good if you’ve only got a couple to maintain, but if you’ve got more, it can become a confusing mess to keep them all updated, and in sync with each other. Your interests change, you fall in and out of relationships… you get the general idea.

A brand new website, dubbed “AtomKeep” (currently in public beta) wants to help you fix this mess.
Once you register for the service, you start by adding your services that you wish to keep in sync – you can choose whether to merge data from your network into atomkeep, replace data on the network with data from atomkeep, or just leave it intact.

Once you have all your networks added to your AtomKeep account, it’s simply a matter of filling out your profile information (you might not have to do anything if you chose to import data when you added your accounts), and heading over to the sync tab, fill out your password for the services that need updating, click and sync.

You can sign up for AtomKeep (currently in public beta) today at www.atomkeep.com

So is this service like Ping.fm, or Updating.Me?

  2. Ben Grubb says:

@Harry Precisely like Ping.fm but instead of broadcasting a message out to your social networks, this updates profile information within them.

You can see an Interview I did with one of the founders for Ping.fm if you’re interested:

Hey Harry – no AtomKeep is different as it updates your profile (bio, interests, basic stats, avatar), whereas Ping.fm and other similar services only update your status (Beau is eating food, Beau is at school), etc.
